How do I book tickets?
Tickets can be booked online in advance or purchased on the day at Stanhope booking office (subject to availability). Event trains and experiences require advance booking.
Are dogs allowed on the train?
Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome on board. Assistance dogs travel free. Please always keep dogs on a lead.
Do trains have toilets on board?
Yes, most of our passenger trains have toilet facilities. Station toilets are also available at key stops such as Stanhope.
Is the railway accessible for wheelchair users?
We offer step-free access at selected stations and have designated spaces for wheelchair users on some trains. Please contact us in advance to help us make your visit as smooth as possible.
Where can I park?
Free or low-cost parking is available at most stations along the route including Stanhope, Wolsingham and Bishop Auckland West.
Can I bring a picnic or food on the train?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own refreshments. Some services also offer catering or snacks on board – check service details.
